Even though we were nearing the end of the year, many volunteers from various dojos participated in the winter edition of the Aikido Kanagawa Federation Joint Training Session, an event that gathers practitioners from across the Kanagawa Prefecture and beyond.
The training took place on a nice Saturday afternoon on December 30th, 2023 at the Yokohama Budokan in Kannai. As usual, three dojo instructors were asked to share their conception of Aikido with the attendees. As always, Yokohama AikiDojo sent a delegation, though it was a little smaller than usual due to the fact that many of our members had travelled back to their hometowns to be with their families.
Guillaume Sensei and Sakata-san joined the seminar and were able to practice with a range of different practitioners
The teachers of the day included Matsunari Masaru Sensei, a 5th dan instructor from Aikido Kenshin-kai, Ikeda Tadamichi Sensei, a 5th dan instructor from Sakuradai Aikido Club, and Oshizumi Sensei, instructor from the Seishin-kan Dojo. Although all felt that the basics were the same, they were able to explore the expressions and perspectives different from their usual practice and found them most refreshing.
Over forty people gathered on that day
Each session lasted 40 minutes, with 5 minutes breaks in between. The last 20 minutes of the day were dedicated to free practice. After training, people gathered in a local restaurant.
As usual, Takeda Daiyu Sensei took charge of organizing the day
All left with a wonderful feeling of healthy exhaustion and friendship and are looking forward to the next joint training in 2024!
